They call it Garn Jr.
They call it Garn Jr or the Garn 1000 but I think I am going to call it my baby Garn how about that.  It was a long time coming as you all know I had given up on the Garn 1500 as just to dog gone expensive and that is why I bought the army surplus water buffalo as storage.  But low and behold I was searching Craig's list and came across the Garn 1000 for sale from Oaks sales and Ken Oaks gave me the information on the new Garn and here it is.  Mary and I had looked at the Garn 1500 about three years ago and it was just to costly.  This wed. Ken showed up with the unit and I had already cut the wall out and was ready.  Jay  from Woodland Improvements came over with his skid loader and with the touch of a surgeon he put the new BABY Garn in the boiler room.  P.S. any body want to buy a 400 gallon insulated water buffalo tank let me know

I know it has been to long
This winter I have been taking it a little to easy and it is now time to get back in the saddle.  Mary and I went up on Sunday to check the house out and take pictures of the windows we put in the bathroom.  Mel and Andrea found two 1/2 inch by 24 X 48 sections of glass that were seconds for coffee table tops which worked out just great.  I built a 8 inch medicine cabinet on the side of each window we think they will be great.  Jim said he would come up on wed. to help get some of the snow off of the roof as you can see it could use it.  Mary had to make a snow man the snow was just perfect for it.  PS Mary had a big thrill this weekend she had a merry go round ride at the mapelwood mall.

I have been AWOL
It has been a long time and I have only one excuse I had a tough time with the new camera.  It is supposed to be getting a little crazy in the weather department and I thought I would get the outside of the porch closed up for the winter.
Today I went up and put the fake cordwood on the gable and installed the outside light.  I know that the only ones that will notice that I put the blog up are my Kids anyway here it is.  Also several weeks ago I sanded the Library floor it looks really god.

lost the camera
OK, I know it sounds stupid but some how I lost the dam camera and it was winter so we weren't going up that much any way.  but now that it has gotten beyond the cold shit sort of and we bought another camera I will try to continue posting as things happen.   1) I built the shelving for the pantry it has room for the chest freezer under the shelves.  2) I put fascia on it looks great.  3) Mary grabbed a lot of the small stones off of the yard that showed up after we spread the dirt from digging the pond and brought them home scrubbed them up and  We then applied them to the wall on either side of the tile wall behind the wood stove.  4) I didn't put in a picture but Jim came up and when the fields were frozen we drove to the back and cut up a few of the many trees that blew down last summer when the ground was super saturated PS thanks Jim.  5) We went crazy and I bought a used D R Trimmer on Craig's list and started chipping downed branches and Mary is improving the path to the back with newsprint first and then about 4 to 6 inches of chips.

louvered porch windows
The weather cooperated nicely to frame in and set the windows, but when we bought the tile for the porch walls the salesman pointed out that the thin set and the grout need to cure each for 24 hours above 50 degrees. I decided to finish the outside season with setting the windows and next spring I will remove the windows and tile when the warm weather returns.

The porch
It is wed. and I am finally getting ready to close in the porch. But first the picture of Mary is from this last Sunday we went to a seminar on recognizing edible mushrooms, and if I wasn't so loud taking this picture Mary would have fallen asleep during lunch break. The porch windows I bought on Craig's list are 76 inches tall and will fill just about the full area of the walls from 20 inches up. We have decided to put ceramic tile on the areas under and around the windows. Here is the first section with the 1/2 inch plywood and Duroc on and ready to be tiled.

Treasure Chest
Last week I was reminded that I was going to a wedding shower on Sunday and I would need to have a box ready to give to my daughter and future son in law. Well it turned out to be a treasure chest and it will be used for the gift cards at the wedding reception. Jim came up today Monday and helped me set the sump pump well and the drain tile, it was really great to get this done as the next step is to pour the floor in the root cellar/storm cellar and on the shed lean to for the boiler and wood storage. Thanks Jim!

Summers end
It is the last week in august and Mary and I are on vacation but the quiet at the home site is so tempting we went up for a few days. I bought a used Bark Buster log splitter a few weeks back and found out that bending down to split wood is a no no. On Wed. I built the table to hold the splitter at a reasonable height and it works very well. All of the wood from clearing the area for the drain field is getting old and needing to be split the bark buster makes that a heck of a lot easier. We have been pumping the swimming pool (the root cellar under the porch) getting ready to put in a proper drain bed and pour a concrete slab floor. this will hopefully be done this fall along with the boiler room and the wood storage. Just so you know the fog in some of the pictures is not fog, the temp outside is 74 degrees and 100 percent humidity and the house was a lot cooler and when we brought the camera out it would not stop fogging up
