To find the radius of the railing is a little more complicated than just what the heck the stairs are 31 inches so that should work? That is not how it works you have to first do the mock up and then lay a sheet of cardboard down on the top of the balusters to get a accurate size for the railing. This radius is a combination of the rise and run and is really a pain to find. Getting back to the real world the stairs from the center of the pipe to the outside of the baluster is 30 inches but the same distance when you have a helix comes to a UNBELIEVABLE 39.25 inches
