Tiled windows
We set the tile in all of the windows on Monday and on Tuesday we grouted them. Today I started applying the door and drawer hardware, it looks great. Mary put the first coat of lacquer on the ceiling trim yesterday and today she sanded them and we got another coat of the lacquer on they look great. The ceiling trim is a little hard to sand being that the pieces are 1/2" by 3" by 16' they are just a tiny bit wobbly.

keyboarding wet
I have been trying to blog for several days now and I have come to the conclusion that you should never drink diet soda at the computer. Monday I spilled a very small amount of diet cola on the darn key board and since that time I have been unable to blog. Anyway here we go, Monday and Tuesday we put up a ton of the ash trim we stopped because we need some more caulk to seal the last few boards in the guest bedroom and utility room. Wednesday I went up alone and built the bathtub platform and did a little plumbing here and there. Holy cow I almost forgot the ceramic cook top is now hooked up and running we can heat up the beans inside now!

grouting the kitchen

The tile cured overnight and needed a little cleaning of the grout line areas before we could apply the grout. Andrea did all of the tile cleanup and they look great. I loaded all of the trim 1 X 6 and 1 X 8 ash trim boards up and brought them up this morning. After the tile was done we started on the trim as you can see in the pictures what do you think of the cute 30 inch fan.

The tiles are thin set

On Monday Andrea and I went up she put a second coat of paint on a few of the areas and I cut all of the tile for the counter. Today we went up and set the tiles with thin set mortar and tomorrow we will grout the joints. When I mixed the thin set mortar I mixed more than I needed and instead of just wasting it I quickly cut some of the tile to fit a window seat and set it. Everything is looking good with the exception of the darn rain, it will not stop and without the rain cooperating we will not be able to get on with the next project setting the septic tank and starting the pole shed / garage.

counter top
Jim gave me a hand again today and we set and screwed the cabinets to the glue blocks. We also extended the electricity to the island outlets and the dishwasher outlet. Then we had to get creative and cut the counter top to fit the cabinet outline with the proper over hangs. The new kitchen sink from IKEA is going to look great when we get the tile on. Thursday we will have to set the Duroc and cut the edge trim which I have already put 3 coats of spar varnish on.

cabinets are heavy

Jim helped me bring in the cabinets for the kitchen Monday and we got them pretty much where we needed them. I went up alone today and I anchored the stove base and I anchored blocking to the cement floor to anchor the rest of the island to. I was off a little with the plumbing when I put it in so it is necessary to move the hot and cold water lines and the drain all about 14 inches back. I also needed a reason to get off of my knees so I put up a couple of wall sconces and a bathroom light.

color me stiff
I don't know if there is a color that represents stiff sore knees but if there is that is me tonight. We started putting on the different colored paints ( there are 5) today and it was a fun day except for the kneeling. The color scheme looks great in my humble opinion. We should be able to finish the painting tomorrow and my great hope is that we can get the septic tank placed before the rain comes again.

It's the bees knees
Yep you betcha by golly we finished priming all of the walls in two days and they look great. By the way the reason for the title is that Jim painted from the rolling scaffold and I painted the low wall and wellllll I didnot use my knee pads and there are now blisters on both of them. Mary is on vacation and went to the cities to visit with our daughters and with their help picked some great colors for the entire house and bought same.
