what a drag
Jim brought his 4 wheeler up and drug the yard while I prepared the floors for dying. We had decided to use the Malay tan as a base color for the main floor and to add highlights with the other colors. Today I applied two coats of the Malay tan and tomorrow I will even it out and highlight the areas . and then I will need to dye the bathrooms with the green.

finnished the test floor
Today was one of those days where you have to just keep plugging away at. I started by cleaning out the guest bedroom and then it was time to start machine scrubbing and wet vacuuming and then a neutral rinse and vacuuming. after all of that was done I did the same to the mud room bath, the pantry and the back entry hall. before I left for the day I also applied a sealer to the utility room dyed floor. WHEW!

I am floored
Just a couple of pictures of the test areas after scrubbing. I over sprayed a couple of the areas with contrasting colors to see what we would get and here they are. It seems like the new color almost totally neutralizes the first acid dye that was laid down.

tie dye test
Here are a couple of pictures of the acid concrete dying test. I have two pictures that are almost alike the only difference is that one was taken after the first coat of dye and the other after the second application. It is hard to tell by the pictures but I hope everything is going to look good. tomorrow I will need to scrub the acid residue up.

The pressure is off
After a lot of searching I found the big bad leak and we passed our pressure test of the sanitary plumbing which means I can Sheetrock the walls. Before sheet rocking the walls I want to acid dye the concrete floors Mary and I ran down to Carroll supply to pick up some of the Kemiko concrete dye a while back. We purchased four colors to test, cola, golden wheat, Malay tan and lawn green. as you can see in the pictures I cut a border which will allow us to have a better control of the different colors as we apply them. The pictures are of the floor in the utility room which will be our test area to decide what colors or mix of colors to use in the rest of the house.

spring fever for real
I had a bad week last week really knocked out by a spring crud but we are back at it this week and here you go. Since I last blogged I have gotten most of the oak posts sanded and that was a real trial let me tell you. As you can see by the pictures the stumps were pushed out and Mike scraped the topsoil off and we brought in a lot of gravel. While Mike was waiting for more gravel to spread he did a lot of the landscaping. Anyway we are now ready to put in the drain field and put up the shop/garage.

loft and layout
Just finishing the loft mortise of the beam and cutting the flooring. Also it is drying out enough to start (dreaming) thinking about the shed layout. This picture shows a stake showing the front corner closest to the house. I was originally thinking of running the shed east to west but I would have had to move the garden shed and this puts the garage portion just a little closer to the house. I should have shown pictures of this area from 3 weeks ago for something to compare to it is an unusual spring in that it is so very early and so very dry.
