Sanding and Sanding more to come
The pictures do not show how much sanding is going to be involved in finishing the posts for sealing. As you can see I am mortising in the landing for the ladder and the access for opening the window on the east end. Jim lent me our fathers old Stanley belt sander as mine is now ca put. I must say they used to make there tools a lot better . Oh yeah did I mention they also made them weigh a ton. The old Stanley weighs about 20 pounds and after 3 to 4 hours of sanding it does get to be a bit much. But what can I say it works, oh my sore shoulders!

clearing complete
Yahoo the trees are all down and it is time for mother nature to go to work and dry everything up so that we can get a septic system in this summer. Looks can be deceiving that pile of wood is one heck of a lot of trees and my back will attest to it. We took a look at the area for the shed / garage and I need to take about 5 more trees out of that area.

The cupboards
The cupboards are out of the shop and the timing could not have been better. It was raining this morning and it wasn't a good day to clear trees so it was a good time to put the drawer fronts on the cabinets. It is supposed to be sunny for the next two days and I will go north to work on the clearing of the land . I also ran out and picked up a sump pump for the porch it is just a tad bit wet!!

cabinet fever
I know it is really a stupid pun but I am really getting cabinet fever. I finished hanging the last of the doors. I cleaned the shop and vacuumed all of the cabinets. They are now ready to put the first coat of finish on and seal the inside of the drawers.

spring fling
I know it doesn't look like a lot in the before and after pictures but We were standing in almost two feet of snow to cut the trees down. This is the start of the new building cycle and I thought we would start by getting a jump on clearing the trees for the septic system and also clearing the area for the shed. The snow really was over my knees at times in this picture and I decided we may need to give mother nature a few extra days to get rid of some of the (snow) #$%@$# snow is a four letter word. I must try to put a little more information into the blogs and to blog more often.
