Winter seems to be dragging on and on. Went up on the 24Th and put up soffit insulation dams, it was a beautiful day. Jim came up and helped this week I decided it was time to get ready to split the larger wood now that the primary checks are appearing. we will need to clean out an area for the pole building and garage soon so we started today . We need to move all of the cord wood to the house before the frost breaks and now is the time to get the chainsaw running and the backhoe scooping. as you can see by the two outside photos we moved the barbecue and are now ready to split wood.

It was a little cool but not bad, 25 degrees today, but I wanted to get ready to put the windows in on the second floor. I sheathed the 5 north panels and started to shim for the sheathing around the 5 east to west facing windows I ordered earlier this week from the Milaca Building center. It will be nice to be totally sealed up.

It is Sunday Feb 8Th and we have all of the ice and water barrier on and my back is aching. The wife, daughter and brother came up to help me GET'R DONE. It turned out to be a perfect day the sun came out and the wind did not come up.

Thursday I worked on a cupola and now have it ready to roof and the weather warmed enough to apply ice and water barrier to the whole roof. With all of the seams in this roof I decided to use the self adhesive ice dam on the entire roof. My daughter came up on Friday and she was a great help with the roofing. it looks like it will rain or freezing rain tonight or Sunday and I will continue if possible on Sunday. I almost forgot the reason I am sitting on the peak of the house. I ran out of roofing nails and needed warm the adhesive up with body heat , any way my adding this to the blog made my wife happy.

It has been so darn cold since I completed the 'snow job' that I decided to finish the capital for the second floor beam. I thought it would look nice with the year we started the construction of the house carved into it. This will be bolted to the sides of the 8" X 8" beam to help support the radial rafters. I am thinking that they might be a trial to raise and hold in place while I drill and bolt them in place but the whole idea is to have a new challenge every once and awhile.
